Other Programs
There are other teachers at Marengo who provide your children with support and education outside their main classroom. These teachers are essential to the Marengo community and need your support to help purchase basic supplies.
Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP):
- Ms. Rachael Kam helps support our students’ communication skills in order for them to access their curriculum and succeed in the school setting. School-based SLPs have several roles; one of them is assessing and providing school-based speech and language therapy to students according to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Ms. Kam also collaborates and consults with general education teachers, special education teachers, and school staff to help support our students’ communication needs.

Resource Specialist Program (RSP):
- Provides specialized support for students with learning challenges to help them succeed in the classroom. RSP offers individualized instruction in small groups or one-on-one, focusing on areas like reading, writing, math, and social skills. Our RSP teachers work closely with general education teachers to make sure students get the help they need while staying engaged in regular classroom activities.
- Your Wish Night donations will help cover:
- Math Manipulatives (e.g., base ten blocks, fraction tiles, counters)
- Reading Comprehension Tools (e.g., leveled books, reading highlighters, visual aids)
- Visual Schedules and Timers to support transitions and time management
- Organizational Supplies (e.g., bins, folders, binders) to help students stay organized
- Educational Games that reinforce math and literacy skills
- Laminating Sheets to create durable visual aids and practice materials
- Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Resources like books, cards, and tools to help with self-regulation and social skills
Occupational Therapy (OT):
- Mrs. Cassandra Jacobsen helps support our students’ fine motor, visual motor, and sensory processing skills needed to access their academic curriculum and succeed in the school setting. School-based OTs have several roles; one of them is assessing and providing school-based occupational therapy to students according to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Mrs. Jacobsen also collaborates and consults with general education teachers, special education teachers, and school staff to help support our students’ fine motor, visual motor, and sensory processing needs.

- Adapted paper and writing tools
Adapted Physical Education (APE):
- Mr. Bryant Lopez supports students in accessing the physical education curriculum by building the foundational skills necessary in playing organized games. APE falls under the educational domain and can address remediation of movement skills. In APE, there is a focus on modifying and adapting the environment and demands of the task to enable the student to participate in physical activity with non-disabled peers. Mr. Bryant is most concerned with assisting students to be successful in the physical education curriculum and part of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team, Mr. Bryant collaborates and works alongside general and special education teachers in meeting student goals.

- Specialized equipment (sensory, textured, foam and tactile balls)
- Adapted seasonal sport items supporting visual or sensory seeking students
- Body awareness equipment such as hoops and agility ladders
