Year Round Program & Events

Join your fellow parents and students as we make walking and biking to school a ROARIN' good time!

 

There are 3 separate routes for both the Bike Bus and Walking Bus to Marengo, where parent-led, safety-in-numbers fun is the rule!  

Why join us?
  • Its been shown to improve sleep, attentiveness and test scores
  • It improves mental and physical health
  • It reduces congestion and air pollution around our schools
  • It helps teach our kids skills of independence, resourcefulness and resilience 
  • Its just fun!

Bike Bus Route Details and FAQ

  • Bike bus routes roll on Tuesday at 7:55am

  • Fun, escorted rides to school with priority from crossing guards

  • Riders are welcome to join anywhere along any route.

  • All participants are required to wear a helmet to ride with the group.
  • We recommend that children 2nd grade and under have a designated adult chaperone (such as a parent or friend) along for the ride. Older students are welcome to ride without an adult.

  • Routes leave from the North (Hope/Stratford), South (La France/Maple) and West (Diamond/Bank)

  • Bike Parking available both inside school grounds and outside the gates near the front of the office

  • Live too far from school to bike, or need to drop-off and head to work quickly?  No worries we got you covered!  Drive to any route start and join us!

Walking Bus Route Details and FAQ

Join teachers, parents and your fellow students on a joint walk to school. On random Fridays once per month, Activity zones will be set up with special entertainment and giveaways will be offered to those participating.  

Leaves every Friday from 3 locations:

  • Garfield Park @ 7:55am
  • Eddie Park @ 7:55am
  • Huntington/Marengo @ 7:55am

Garfield Park route
Meets at Mission/Marengo at 7:50am and leaves at 7:55am, or meet us along the way down Marengo. 

Eddie Park route
Meets at Edgewood and Chelten at 7:50am and leaves at 7:55am, or meet us along the way on Oak.

Huntington/Marengo route
Meets at SE corner of Huntington and Marengo at 7:50am and leaves at 7:55am, or meet us along the way on Marengo.
