Back to School/ Wish Night
Thursday, August 22nd. Find out about the coming year’s curriculum, sign up for volunteer opportunities, and contribute directly to valuable resources needed in your child’s classroom.
Saturday, September 21st. Enjoy great food, drinks, dancing, a silent auction and games of chance while you meet new parents and reconnect with old friends.
Kick off Wednesday, September 25th. Pledges are collected to earn money on a per-minute or flat-rate basis. Students will read and track their minutes on a reading calendar. October 1-31st.
Fall Family Pumpkin Festival and Movie Night
Friday, October 18th. A pumpkin Patch supporting 5th Grade promotion will open at 1pm. Everyone is welcome to purchase pumpkins & make fall crafts. You are welcome to bring a picnic dinner. Once the sun goes down, stay and to pull up a chair and watch a free movie under the stars. Marengo PTA will be selling popcorn and beverages.
Red Ribbon Week
October 28th – November 1st. Students take part in daily activities that teach and promote healthy lifestyle choices.
Book Character Parade
Thursday, October 31st. Students and teachers come dressed as their favorite character from a book and parade around the school. This is a great culmination to our annual Read-a-thon.
Fall Book Fair
November 18th – 22nd. Stop by during Parent/Teacher Conferences and support Marengo by purchasing books for your classroom, home or the school library.
Thursday, December 5th. For a nominal fee, students have the opportunity to make holiday gifts for family and friends in this after school workshop.
Thursday, December 19th. Kinder – 5th grade performances.
Celebrate the Arts Day
Sunday, January 12th. A showcase of creativity as a process where critical thinking, exploration, collaboration, and experimentation are encouraged and exercised. The whole family is encouraged to participate.
Super Science Night
Wednesday, February 26th. See displays and participate in hands-on science experiments in the auditorium. You can also participate in ticketed (free) presentations in various classrooms throughout the night. Science is cool at Marengo!
TBD February. In our annual showcase, students perform a wide variety of talents for family and friends.
Friday, March 13th. Pledges are collected to earn money on a per-lap or flat-rate basis. Come and cheer on your Marengo Lions as they run/jog/walk to raise money for Marengo.
Spring Book Fair
March 16th – 20th. Stop by during Parent/Teacher Conferences and support Marengo by purchasing books for your classroom, home or the school library.
Teacher / Staff Appreciation Week
April 20th – 24th. This week gives students and families a chance to show their appreciation for the teachers and staff at Marengo. Room parents will give details at a later date.
All-City Track Meet
Friday, May 1st. A Marengo favorite where everyone can compete at the SPMS track in a variety of field and track events. Our school will compete against all other South Pasadena Elementary Schools. This is a wonderful opportunity to show good sportsmanship and Marengo pride!
Thursday, May 21st. Join the teachers and students as they open the doors to their classrooms and showcase all they have accomplished throughout the year.
Spring Dance / PTA Service Awards
Friday, May 29th. A long-standing tradition at Marengo, students dance to honor our volunteers. The students perform dances by grade level culminating with the 5th graders dancing the maypole. The PTA will honor members for outstanding service and leadership.
There are many volunteer opportunities at Marengo. In addition to the events listed here, there are places such as the classrooms, the library, computer lab, office and site beautification.
